Summer Festivities of Early Music 2019 - Corazón español
22.07.2019 - 22.07.2019

The festival concerts at the Troja Chateau have traditionally been dedicated to Spanish music. Perhaps this has been the influence of the Habsburgs, the omnipresent patrons of the Prague baroque villa, whose dominion on the Iberian Peninsula in the 16th and 17th century is known as the “Golden Age”. It was during the Habsburg’s rule, after all, that Gaspar SanzJuan Hidalgo, or Sebastián Durón from Brihuega were active in Calanda, Madrid, and Brihuega.

These composers will be our guides as we set out on a journey through the Central Meseta, exploring the Spanish temperament which the locals call “corazón español”.

We will travel to the sound of music, of course, accompanied by the soprano Anna Reinhold, a native of Paris, the Exclamatio String Quartet and the brilliant guitarist Quito Gato, originally from Argentina.

The musical pilgrimage will confirm that the Spanish heart is still pounding, be it in the rhythms of Joaquín Turina or Federico García Lorca.

And it beats passionately!
