TROMP Percussion EIndhoven

In the year 1971, a donation from founder dr. Ir.Theo Tromp, combined with a contribution from the Eindhoven city council led to the creation of a biennialinternational music competition for young, exceptionally talented musicians. Over the following forty years TROMP has now grown to become a prestigious competition and an internationally alluring event.

The upcoming edition in 2014 marks TROMP’s
5th percussion competition (22 competitions in total). TROMP laureates are internationally distinguished percussionists like Claire Edwardes (Australia), Yi-Ping Yang (Taiwan), Alexej Gerassimez (Germany) and Alexandre Esperet (France). Some past jury members are Evelyn Glennie, Colin Currie, Peter Sadlo, Nancy Zeltsman, Emmanuel Séjourné, Bill Cahn, James Wood, Anders Loguin, Andre Pushkarev, Trilok Gurtu, Terry Bozzio, Momoko Kamiya, Jean Geoffroy, Pedro Estevan, Pete Lockett, Zoltán Rácz and Arnold Marinissen.
The 2014 edition of TROMP will include three main components: a world-class international competition, inspiring educational projects and a festival during which internationally renowned artists will perform in unique musical encounters.
